Alzheimer’s and Memory Care

A supportive home-like atmosphere where physical and emotional needs are recognized and met.

For seniors living with Alzheimer’s and other memory-related issues, even the most basic everyday tasks can become burdensome and difficult. That’s why we’ve created a memory support community that provides a structured environment with enhanced safety and care for our residents. From accommodating dietary requirements to creating specialized programming, to monitoring medications and helping with personal hygiene, care at our Rose Lane memory care center is provided in a way that allows residents to maintain their independence and dignity. We also provide Alzheimer’s support groups, giving additional help to the families that we serve.

At Rose Lane, we understand the challenges that accompany Alzheimer’s disease, both for residents and their families—and we provide Alzheimer’s support groups, giving additional help to the families that we serve.

Mild Cognitive Impairment Support

At our memory support communities, we understand the complexities of Alzheimer’s Disease and other forms of dementia and memory loss and have created a memory care program for residents with Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI) that is distinct and separate from our Rose Lane program.

With specialized programming, smaller, and more intimate groups, residents in our Transitional Care Program get the services they need and benefit from programs and principles of both our Traditional Assisted Living and Rose Lane communities. We understand that allowing persons with Mild Cognitive Impairments to benefit from their peers in the same stage of the disease process engaging in programs and living nearby is crucial to helping stave off the progression of the disease. The principles and structure of the Rose Lane Program is geared toward residents with Mild Cognitive Impairment that need a smaller environment than a Traditional Assisted Living community.

Memory Care at Merryvale Assisted Living: Making the Most of Each Day

At the Rose Lane memory care center at Merryvale Assisted Living, we offer a therapeutic program of special events, social interaction, recreation, household tasks and everyday living activities. The goal of these programs is simple, to instill a sense of achievement and normalcy for those requiring Alzheimer’s and memory care.

Art, Photography & Music Programs

Our incredibly creative Rose Lane associates develop new programs regularly. We also look outside our company for innovative programs and adapt them for the assisted living environment. Music appreciation, guest musical entertainers, watercolor painting, and nature photography comprise a sample of our programs.

Researchers now say that regular exercise is associated with a reduced risk of developing Alzheimer’s disease and that it has a positive cognitive effect for those who are already exhibiting signs and symptoms associated with the disease. Exercise is a central component to our programs and varies from aerobic activity to endurance and strength building.

Social Opportunities

Research has shown that people with regular social ties are significantly less likely to demonstrate cognitive decline when compared to those who are lonely or isolated. Residents involved in discussion groups, environmental awareness, happy hour, board games, or a game of trivia will enjoy the company of their peers.

Opportunities for spiritual growth through devotions, religious services, scripture studies and singing hymnal are key pieces of our programming in Rose Lane.

Purposeful Design Features

In keeping with the latest research on environmental design for those with memory loss, Rose Lane neighborhoods promote resident independence, well-being and functioning at their highest level. Unobtrusive security systems, natural sunlight, contrasting color schemes, outdoor walking gardens, and smaller scale design are some of the features or our community.

Everyday Living

Residents will regain independence and enhance their sense of purpose through accomplishing daily tasks such as washing and drying dishes, dusting, making beds, folding laundry, gardening and enjoying crafts and cooking.
